Academy.
The Department was established
in 1990. At that time it was the first philosophy
department in the USSR of such a conceptual-theoretical subjects. The
problem of scientic European culture spirituality crisis research and rationalistic
paradigm in modern philosophy and science was underlain in the basis of the
Department conception.
The Department cadre: for a time of its establishing - 7 staff members, today - 13,75.

The Department active development is observed for more than ten years of
its existence: 9 doctoral theses (A.V.Tyaglo,
V.V.Shkoda, V.I.Shtanko, V.F.Sukhina, B.Y.Pugach, V.E.Chernikova, V.F.Cheshko,
Y.M.Bilyk, I.A.Zherebkina) and 30 candidate
theses. There are Postgraduate Studies and Doctoral Studies on four
specialties at the Department: "Philosophical
Anthropology and Philosophy of Culture", "Ukrainian Studies (Philosophical
Sciences)", "Philosophy of Science", "Ontology, Gnoseology
and Phenomenology".
The Department actively develops new scientific subjects, on which it takes
the leading position in Ukraine: Holistic Philosophy
of Science (Professor Tsekhmistro I.Z.); Gender
Studies, held by Gender Studies Laboratory on the off-budget funds
(Assistant Professor Zherebkina I.A.). There
was provided the computerization, E-mail equipping and connection to the Internet
at the Department. Annually the number of faculty stuff increases, who takes
part in international scientific conferences, attends foreign universities,
and the number of publications in English is also increased. The Department
cooperates with Bulgarian
Academy of Science Philosophy Institute (working at the Soros Foundation joint
project "The Postmodern and Relational Holism"), Leeds University
(England, Theology and Religion Studies, Russian and Slavonic Studies Department),
Costern University (Oxford, England), Leyden University (Holland, international
project "Ukrainian and Russian Religious Philosophy and the Ways of Modern
West-European Idea Development: Opportunity of Dialogue"), St. Andrew's
Biblical-Theological College (Moscow, Russia), and also with leading
educational higher and scientific establishments of Kharkov and Ukraine as a
whole. Specialized defending doctoral (candidate) theses scientific council
on four specialties in the Philosophy field and Cultural Studies has functioned
on the basis of the Department since 1993.
For 10-year term the work of the Department has been marked by the following
INNOVATIONS:
· The initiation at Kharkov
National University and Kharkov studies in the area on Gender subjects - Associate
Professor I.Zherebkina. For today Gender Studies Laboratory at the Department
and Kharkov Center for Gender Studies (Associate Professor I.Zherebkina) function
as a coordinator of Gender Studies in the former USSR.
· The organization of "Gender Studies" journal - Associate
Professor I.Zherebkina - 8 issues.
· The organization of editions of the almanac "The Second Navigation.
(Philosophy. Cultural Studies. Literature Studies)". The editor-in-chief
Associate Professor M.Blyumenkrants. - 3 issues.
· The initiation of the topic studies "The Postmodern and Relational
Holism in Philosophy of Science: Comparative Studies" - professor I.Tsekhmistro,
Associate Professor I.Biletskiy, Professor V.Shtanko.
· Science and Theology: The Time of Dialogue - Associate Professor A.Filonenko,
